A Door for Doris Lee

Large-scale Illustration

The Client

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens contracted me to create a life-size illustration of a door from a 1942 Doris Lee painting.

The Strategy

The original painting measured only 24 inches, and the bottom half of the door is not shown. I replicated what was visible in Doris Lee’s style. For the floor, I researched the artist and recreated the tile pattern found in another of her paintings..

The Result

The illustration was an integral part of the immersive experience for hundreds of visitors to the Dixon’s interactive gallery.
